Microsoft Releases Office 2024 for PC and Mac

Microsoft has released Office 2024 for Windows and MacOS computers. This is a standalone version that works without a Microsoft 365 subscription. This is reported in the company’s blog and lists new features for users.

Microsoft Office 2024 includes improvements to core applications as well as changes to the user interface. Office 2024 has a new default design theme in the Fluent Design style, which matches the visual style of Windows 11. The biggest changes in Office 2024 affect Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Word, Excel, and PowerPoint now let you easily insert images from your Android mobile device. The new version of Microsoft’s Office suite provides full support for version 1.4 of the OpenDocument Format (ODF), which includes many improvements. Word and PowerPoint let you mark and respond to comments in documents.

Microsoft has added new features to Excel for using text and arrays in worksheets, as well as a new Image feature that can pull images from the web. Excel 2024 can now reference dynamic arrays in automatically updating charts. Microsoft says the overall speed and stability of Excel 2024 has been improved.

Office 2024 will run on Windows 10 and 11, as well as the three latest releases of macOS (macOS Ventura, macOS Sonoma, and macOS Sequoia). Both a Microsoft account and an internet connection are required to install and activate the new office suite.

Microsoft Office 2024 will be available in two different editions. Office Home 2024 for $149.99 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for PC or Mac. Outlook requires Office Home and Business 2024 for $249.99.
