The new iPad mini with an OLED screen is expected to be unveiled in late October alongside the new MacBook Pros. According to Bloomberg journalist and insider Mark Gurman, the new model will feature numerous improvements but will also come with a significantly higher price tag.
Apple is considering a starting price of $799, compared to $599 for the current model.
Rumor has it that, in addition to an OLED display, the tablet will feature thinner bezels and a redesigned chassis. Apple also plans to upgrade the audio system and install a more powerful processor—presumably the A20 Pro, which is used in the flagship iPhone 18 Pro.
However, it remains unclear whether the OLED panel will match the specifications of the advanced tandem OLED display found on the iPad Pro.
Sources also differ on whether the device will support ProMotion with a 120Hz refresh rate.
However, whatever the improvements may be, at a price of $800, the new iPad mini would effectively cost more than one-and-a-half times as much as its predecessor—based on the starting price of the current generation.
