Google Announces Its AI Will Be Coming to iPhones Soon
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the company is close to a deal with Apple to bring its Gemini AI model to the iPhone, allowing Siri to use the AI model’s extensive capabilities to answer more complex questions.
The possibility of such a partnership has been discussed in the industry for a long time. As early as June last year, Apple Senior Vice President Craig Federighi hinted at the company’s interest in giving users a choice between different AI models in the future, including solutions from Google. Currently, Apple’s new AI system, Apple Intelligence, is already integrated with the OpenAI chatbot. Apple Intelligence forwards requests to ChatGPT that it cannot process on its own.
If the deal goes through (expected by the end of 2025), Gemini will become the second third-party AI system available in Apple’s ecosystem, giving users a choice between OpenAI and Google technologies and increasing competition in the AI space.
