Vivo Introduced Light Foldable Smartphones X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro
The Vivo X Fold3 base model weighs just 219 grams, making it the lightest inward folding smartphone. For comparison, the Honor V Purse weighs 214 grams, but the device folds outward and does not have a second screen. Moreover, Vivo X Fold3 turned out to be lighter than some traditional all-in-one PCs, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max (221 g) and Galaxy S24 Ultra (232 g), as well as direct competitors such as the Galaxy Z Fold5 (253 g). Last year’s X Fold2 weighs 279 grams and is 12.9mm thick when folded. Vivo X Fold3 is 10.2mm thick when folded.
Vivo X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro feature the same set of displays. The interior panel measures 8.03 inches diagonally. It supports a resolution of 2480 × 2200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It uses a Samsung E7 matrix with a peak brightness of 4500 cd/m2. The external display measures 6.53 inches and supports a resolution of 2748×1172 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This is the Q9 Plus matrix, but also with a peak brightness of 4500 cd/m2. The screens of the new products are more than twice as bright as those of the predecessor X Fold2 with 1800 and 1600 cd/m2, respectively.
The X Fold 3 line received the largest batteries in the industry: 5500 mAh for the base one and 5700 mAh for the firmware. Both smartphones support fast charging and are equipped with stereo speakers. There is a Wi-Fi 7 module, NFC, a slot for two SIM cards, stereo speakers with the ability to play Hi-Fi audio without loss of quality.
The X Fold3 Pro model features more advanced IPX8 water protection, while the base X Fold3 model received IPX4 protection. The predecessor had no protection from water at all, so improvements are visible in any case.
The base model of Vivo X Fold3 starts at 7,000 yuan ($970) for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The version with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is priced at 7,500 yuan ($1,035), the version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage is priced at 8,000 yuan ($1,105), and the 16 GB/1 TB option is priced at 9,000 yuan ($1,243).
