Rapper Kanye West bought The Social Network Parler
After blocking his Twitter account, rapper Kanye West decided to buy his counterpart “with freedom of speech” – the social network Parler. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year. The contractor emphasized that the platform will help adherents of conservative views freely express themselves.
The social network Parler was launched in autumn 2018. It is positioned as an alternative to Twitter with softer moderation of posts published by users.
Parlement Technologies, Parler’s parent company, said in a statement that the acquisition will help create “an immutable ecosystem where all opinions are welcome.” The company’s CEO, George Farmer, said the deal would “change the world and attitudes about free speech.” He also noted that Kanye West “is taking a revolutionary step into the free speech media space, and he will no longer have to be afraid of deleting an account from social networks.”
