More Than Ten Unmanned Cruise Taxis Created A Traffic Jam In San Francisco

Cruise Automation’s fleet of self-driving taxis has experienced a system failure. At least a dozen Chevrolet Bolts blocked the intersection of Gough Street and Fulton Street in San Francisco, writes reddit user seansinha.

In the photos posted by the user, it is noticeable that the cars are on the road without drivers. Self-driving taxis are allowed to move around the city from 22:00 to 5:00, as well as collect fares from passengers, notes The Last Driver License Holder.  Cruise employees had to manually drive them to the depot.

It is not yet reported whether the company will be fined for blocking the street. Moreover, the fact that unmanned vehicles behave strangely and can harm others is frightening. For example, in April, a police officer tried to stop a Cruise car due to a faulty lighting fixture. The car stopped on a signal, but immediately drove away when the policeman tried to open the door on the driver’s side. Later, the robot stopped and went into “defense”
