Huawei Unveils HarmonyOS for PCs – Windows and macOS Competitor

Huawei held the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication Conference, where the general public was officially presented with the HarmonyOS operating system for computers. Thus, the Chinese company has finally entered the era of HarmonyOS for the entire spectrum of consumer devices.

The company has developed over 150 exclusive applications and integrated over 2,000 universal programs for the new OS. The developers have also improved performance, collaboration capabilities, interaction between devices, AI features, and much more. It is already compatible with 1,000+ external devices, including keyboards, mice, monitors, and printers.

The system is equipped with the Ark graphics engine, which significantly improves visual effects and ensures stable operation even with multiple windows open at the same time. The StarShield Security architecture with meter-level positioning based on Nearlink technology is responsible for security. It is stated that even if the lost Huawei device is turned off, the user will still be able to find it. There is also a remote data destruction function.

HarmonyOS for PCs will launch on May 19. It’s not yet clear what the platform will look like in practice, which devices it will appear on first, and whether third-party PC makers will use it.
