Honda Revealed New Robot Trucks
Honda recently introduced the third generation Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV) robotic truck.
The AWV is designed to transport loads of up to two pallets on construction sites without human assistance. Now Honda is looking to find companies willing to test it.
Compared to the 2nd generation version, the new AWV has a larger body size (two pallets) and a larger load capacity (over 900 kilograms), a higher speed of autonomous movement, up to 16 km/h; a larger battery that provides up to 10 hours and 45 kilometers of range, improved evasion features and a lowered body for easier loading.
Thanks to a set of sensors on the mast, the car can operate autonomously or with the help of remote control in difficult terrain, for example, on construction sites. These include GPS, radar, LiDAR and cameras, as well as cloud connectivity, all controlled via a tablet-based interface.
