DoorDash And Wing Test Out Drone Delivery Service Down Under

Google Wing drones will soon be delivering goods via the DoorDash app in a world-first collaboration with a fast food platform.

When using the DoorDash app, customers can set up a drone delivery location in their backyard. Wing said the delivery would take 15 minutes or less. The service will be available to a small number of households and will gradually expand over the coming months, Wing said.

As Wing notes, the partnership with DoorDash is a step towards opening up the Wing platform so that its delivery service can be accessed through third-party apps.

“While Wing has traditionally provided delivery services directly to retail and business customers, to further accelerate the development of our technology, we will increasingly work with marketplaces and logistics partners to expand their delivery capabilities,” said in a press release. Wing Australia CEO Simon Rossi. “We are focused on making rapid drone delivery affordable and sustainable for them and their customers.”
