Asus Introduces Zenfone 12 Ultra With Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip
As planned, Asus unveiled its new flagship smartphone Zenfone 12 Ultra with a high-end camera and AI support. AI capabilities include real-time voice translation of phone calls and voice calls in messengers, as well as an AI Voice Recorder app with multiple speaker recognition, audio translation, and conversation summary.
The main innovation is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the high performance of which is helped by LPDDR5X RAM up to 16 GB and a built-in UFS 4.0 storage of up to 512 GB. Compared to its predecessor, the chip promises a 45 percent increase in CPU performance, 40 percent faster graphics, and a 40 percent faster NPU — an artificial intelligence accelerator.
This is especially true because Asus has packed the new flagship with AI features that work both locally and via the cloud. The Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra itself runs the Meta Llama 3 8B, which offers extensive text capabilities. The AI Call Translator 2.0 feature provides real-time translation of calls both in the phone’s main app and in voice calls via messengers. The Recorder app includes AI Transcript 2.0 with multi-speaker identification, translation, and conversation summaries. The AI also helps with summarizing articles and documents.
The main camera is 50 MP (Sony LYTIA 700 sensor), the wide-angle is 13 MP, the telephoto is 32 MP with 3x optical zoom. There is a selfie module with a resolution of 32 MP.
The device is protected from dust and water according to the IP68 standard, supports two 5G SIM cards, as well as eSIM. The smartphone is available in green, light pink and black colors. Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra is presented in Europe, Taiwan and Hong Kong at a recommended retail price of 1,100 euros.
