Raven Resonance has officially unveiled the Raven Prism 1, a new pair of smart glasses designed to bring the capabilities of a standalone Linux computer directly to wearable technology. Unlike conventional smart glasses that depend heavily on a smartphone, the Prism 1 aims to offer an open and customizable computing experience.

Announced on October 29, 2026, the device is aimed primarily at developers, technology enthusiasts and creative professionals.

Raven Prism 1: Linux-powered smart glasses

One of the biggest highlights of the Raven Prism 1 is its custom Raven OS operating system, based on 64-bit Linux. The platform supports native ARM64 applications, SSH access and third-party software development.

The glasses feature a quad-core 64-bit ARM processor, up to 4GB of RAM and at least 32GB of internal storage. Raven also provides a software development kit, allowing developers to create and customize applications for the device.

For visuals, the Prism 1 uses a full-color LCoS waveguide display positioned in front of the right eye. It offers a 30-degree diagonal field of view, designed to display useful information without completely blocking the user’s surroundings.

Swappable batteries and modular hardware

Another interesting feature is Raven’s Raven Wings battery system. The magnetic battery modules can be replaced without shutting down the glasses or interrupting running applications.

This approach is designed to make the device suitable for extended daily use. The modular connectors could also support future accessories, including GPS receivers, cellular connectivity modules and dedicated AI hardware.

Privacy is another important part of the design. The glasses include a physical camera cover and visible indicators that notify people when the camera is active.

Raven Prism 1 price and availability

Raven Prism 1 is available for pre-order through the company’s official website, with a fully refundable $49 reservation deposit. The announced retail price is $1,499, while the first shipments to early customers are expected to begin in January 2027.

The initial launch is focused on the US market, with wider international availability expected later.

A different direction for smart glasses

With Linux support, third-party applications and replaceable batteries, Raven Prism 1 takes a different approach to wearable computing. Rather than serving simply as a smartphone accessory, it is designed to function as an independent computer.

Whether this concept can attract mainstream consumers remains to be seen, particularly given its premium price. However, for developers and enthusiasts looking for more control over their wearable devices, Raven Prism 1 is certainly an interesting new product to watch.
