OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Library For Storing Users’ Personal Files

OpenAI has introduced a new Library feature for ChatGPT—the ability to store personal files and images in the platform’s cloud storage. ChatGPT Library is available to Plus, Pro, and Business subscribers; the new feature is available to users worldwide except Switzerland, the UK, and the European Economic Area.

A Library section is already starting to appear in the sidebar of the web version of ChatGPT: files previously uploaded to the chat are automatically stored there. By default, conversations are saved in a secure vault and can be used as reference materials in future conversations. Images generated by the chatbot remain in their own tab and are not archived.

Files already in the Library can be quickly added to the current chat for AI analysis or for context. You can also delete them from the vault—a trash can icon appears next to each file. Deleted files remain on OpenAI servers for 30 days.

It was previously announced that OpenAI would begin serving ads to all users of the free and Go versions of ChatGPT in the US in the coming weeks. The company advised advertisers to provide more text and image variations for their ads to increase their frequency and improve their effectiveness.
