Audio-Technica Unveils Flagship ATH-TWX9MK2 Headphones with UV Sterilizer

Audio-Technica has unveiled its flagship ATH-TWX9MK2 fully wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC). The new product features high-end dynamic drivers and a case with a disinfection function – when you place the earbuds in the charging case, the sterilization process starts with UV light, which kills bacteria and viruses.

The sound is based on 5.8 mm Pure Motion drivers: a rigid beryllium dome inside, elastic polyurethane outside, plus a small voice coil with a Sefar mesh. This allows you to cover the range from 10 Hz to 40 kHz and support Hi-Res Audio Wireless and aptX Adaptive (up to 96 kHz, 24 bit) playback.

The active noise cancellation system is built on MEMS microphones with direct and feedback. A hybrid circuit with individual calibration is used – the headphones reproduce a reference signal to adjust to the owner’s ear. If this is not enough, a long touch allows you to adapt the noise cancellation to the current situation. There is also a transparency mode and five ANC presets. Beamforming and the Qualcomm cVc 8.0 algorithm are used for communication, the microphones record the voice in the range of 20 Hz – 10 kHz with a sensitivity of -38 dB. Additionally, sounds of nature and meditation are provided – you can listen even without connecting to a source.

The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9MK2 headphones will be available in Japan on July 11 in black and white for 38,500 yen (about $265).
