Apple Adds iPhone XS to Vintage Gadgets List

Apple has officially added the iPhone XS to its list of vintage devices. According to the company’s rules, a device receives this status if five years have passed since its sales ceased.

The iPhone XS will remain available for official repairs at Apple stores and authorized service centers until it is completely reclassified as an obsolete device. According to standard practice, several years after a model is recognized as vintage, the company finally stops servicing it. In November last year, Apple already recognized its larger version, the iPhone XS Max, as vintage.

Apple also removed the iPad 5 from the vintage category, moving it to the completely obsolete list. The company also posted a warning on its page for owners of the 2018 Mac mini that they should contact authorized service centers to clarify the service status. This computer was (surprisingly) declared vintage by Apple just a few months ago.
