Meta Launches Online Translations and Other AI-Powered Features for Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
Starting next week, Meta will launch a feature in supported EU countries where users will be able to ask Meta AI about what they see and get answers in real time. The company previously updated its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with AI video functionality and real-time language translation capabilities in December 2024. Meta first unveiled these features during its annual Connect conference in September of that year.
Meta Platforms has announced new color options for lenses for smart glasses, released in collaboration with the Ray Ban brand. At the same time, the company announced the expansion of the availability of a number of functions. Among them are the function of real-time speech translation, the ability to send messages and make calls via Instagram, as well as communicate with the branded AI assistant, including discussing what the user is looking at at the time.

Access to music apps like Spotify, Amazon Music, or Apple Music will soon be available to smartglasses users outside the US and Canada. However, only those users who set English as their default language will be able to ask the AI assistant to play something or tell more about an artist.
