Vivo X100 Ultra Introduced: Flagship With 200 MP Telephoto Lens
Vivo held a presentation in China of a new line of smartphones, which included the X100s, X100s Pro and X100 Ultra models. The latter is the most expensive and most sophisticated in terms of cameras. The manufacturer boldly declares that this is a smartphone with the best cameras in the world.
Thus, vivo X100 Ultra received the world’s first periscope with a resolution of 200 megapixels. This is a 1/1.4-inch ISOCELL HP9 sensor developed jointly with Samsung. The sensor is currently considered the largest periscope installed in a smartphone. The periscope has an f/2.67 aperture and an equivalent focal length of 85mm. It supports 3.7x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. This camera is stated to have 20% better light sensitivity compared to the previous model, and also supports macro photography.
Vivo said that this is the first device to support the proprietary BlueImage algorithm, which took eight years to develop. This algorithm claims to eliminate many common problems in mobile photography, including glow behind the subject.
The 50 MP main camera has a LYT-900 1/0.98″ sensor, f/1.75 aperture and 23mm focal length. It supports video recording at up to 4K 120fps with dedicated 4K portrait video and Dolby Vision support. The third camera on the back is the equivalent of a 14mm ultra-wide camera with a 1/2-inch 50MP LYT-600 sensor.
The Vivo X100 Ultra features a curved 6.78-inch E7 LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 1-120Hz. The peak brightness of the display is 3000 cd/m2. There is also an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The cutout at the top of the display houses a 50 MP front camera.
The amount of RAM LPDDR5X is 12 or 16 GB, the capacity of the UFS 4.0 flash drive is from 256 GB to 1 TB. The 5500 mAh battery supports 80W fast wired charging and 30W wireless charging. The device runs OriginOS 4 based on Android 14. Vivo also said that the X100 Ultra supports 5.5G and two-way satellite connectivity in China.
