Tesla Gigafactory In Shanghai Produced One Millionth Electric Car
The American manufacturer Tesla has announced the production of a millionth electric car at a plant in Shanghai. This circumstance has become an important milestone for the new global export center of the concern.
“Congratulations to Giga Shanghai on producing the one millionth vehicle! Tesla has made over 3 million vehicles in total,” Musk tweeted.
The gigafactory in Shanghai is Tesla’s flagship facility. Built and launched in 2019, the plant quickly became the main production center of the company. At first, he assembled 3.5 thousand electric vehicles per week, and now he has increased production capacity to produce 21.7 thousand cars per week. Thus, the enterprise is the largest not only for Tesla, but for electric vehicle manufacturers in the world.
In addition, assembling the millionth electric car means that the Chinese plant now provides a third of Tesla’s production capacity. Given that the Shanghai factory is the company’s third plant, it is also the fastest growing hub for the auto brand.
Tesla shipped a record 77,938 vehicles to China in June, up 177% from a year earlier. In the first half of this year, the Tesla plant in Shanghai produced nearly 300,000 vehicles.
