A New Lord Of The Rings Game From Weta Workshop Has Been Launched In Development
Private Division, the publishing label of Take-Two Interactive, today announced that it has signed a new publishing deal with Weta Workshop, best known for its work on Middle-earth for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
Weta Workshop is best known for creating costumes and props for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, but opened an interactive (gaming) division in 2014.
Weta Workshop is currently in the early stages of developing a Middle-earth game. Neither the title, nor the genre, nor the platforms have been revealed yet, but there are tentative release dates: from April 2023 to March 2024.
“It’s a privilege for us to create a new game in Middle-earth – especially one that’s so different from what’s been released before,” said Weta Workshop’s head of gaming division Amie Wolken on the occasion of the announcement.
In addition to the Weta Workshop project, several other Lord of the Rings games are in development, including the stealth action The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and the survival adventure The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
