Sony Introduced The PS5 Slim With Multi-Colored Side Panels.
Sony presented new PlayStation 5 consoles with side panels from the Deep Earth Collection at the international electronics exhibition CES 2024 (Consumer Electronics Show). The Verge reports this.
At its booth, the company demonstrated a compact version of the PS5 with panels made in different colors. Among them are red (Volcanic Red), blue (Cobalt Blue) and silver (Sterling Silver).
If Sony later starts selling a digital version of the PlayStation 5 Slim console in three new colors, it will have to offer a separate Blu-ray drive in the same colors, since the standard white drive will contrast too much with the metallic color schemes. On the other hand, users will be able to create unique color combinations.
No additional information was provided about changes to the console’s design. The situation was somewhat reminiscent of last year’s CES, where Sony announced the Project Leonardo controller without publishing any data or technical specifications.
It is expected that the new items will go on sale at the beginning of 2024, but the exact release date is still unknown. According to the source, color side panels will cost $55.
