Sigma has officially unveiled the FP2, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera designed to combine advanced photography features with professional video capabilities. Announced on October 23, 2026, the new model builds on the original Sigma fp concept, introducing significant improvements to image processing, autofocus and video recording.

Compact design, upgraded performance

At the heart of the Sigma FP2 is a 24.5-megapixel partially stacked full-frame CMOS sensor. The updated design enables faster readout speeds, helping reduce rolling shutter distortion while supporting continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second.

Sigma has also improved autofocus performance, including subject detection for people, animals and birds. A larger-capacity battery promises approximately 30% longer battery life than the original fp, while 70GB of built-in storage provides additional space for photos and video recordings.

6K video and professional filmmaking

Video production is a major focus of the new camera. The Sigma FP2 supports 6K OpenGate recording, giving filmmakers greater flexibility when creating content for different aspect ratios and platforms. It also supports ProRes RAW and offers a dedicated CINE mode with a workflow tailored to video production.

Other notable upgrades include a tilting rear LCD screen, an optional high-resolution EVF-21 electronic viewfinder and a redesigned accessory ecosystem. The camera retains the L-Mount system, allowing compatibility with a broad selection of lenses.

Price and availability

The Sigma FP2 is scheduled to go on sale on November 11, 2026, with a US starting price of $2,199 for the camera body alone. Buyers will also be able to choose bundles featuring a 50mm F2 lens or the EVF-21 electronic viewfinder, both priced at $2,749.

With its combination of a compact body, high-speed photography and advanced video features, the Sigma FP2 aims to appeal to photographers and filmmakers who want a versatile full-frame camera without carrying a larger production setup.
