TikTok-Style Vertical Video Streaming Has Been Added To The New NBA App
TikTok’s vertical approach to social video has changed channels for better and worse, and the NBA is next, with an updated app for Android and iOS.
The bulk of its individual user experience is the “For You” vertical video stream, which will feature NBA game highlights with “behind-the-scenes access to players and teams”, NBA-related shows, content from influencers, and partner channels such as Turner Sports and Bleacher Report.
Another modern social media feature that the new NBA app includes is “stories.” Like Snapchat, Instagram, and others, it features a horizontal selection of expiring videos that show the best games or dunks and other NBA-related news. Of course, the app will show live games and media days.
The NBA also has a new membership program. This free membership, called NBA ID, offers access to exclusive content such as pre-game press conferences and shows, ticket sales, fantasy game lottery prizes, exclusive voting campaigns, and more.
