RTX 50 SUPER Is Ready But NVIDIA Delaying Its Release

According to VideoCardz, Nvidia has delayed the release of its GeForce RTX 50 Super graphics cards due to the high cost of 3GB GDDR7 memory chips. The publication’s source claims that one of the company’s partners has already received GPUs for the new models, but Nvidia informed them of the delay specifically because of the expensive memory.
A 50% increase in capacity at least triples the cost of a chip. Installing six or eight such chips increases the memory cost of a single graphics card by hundreds of dollars.
According to VideoCardz, the delay affected the GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER with 24 GB of memory and a 256-bit bus, the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER with the same memory configuration, and the RTX 5070 SUPER with 18 GB of memory and a 192-bit bus. The transition to 3 GB chips allows for increased memory capacity without increasing the bus width or the number of chips.
According to the same source, the launch of the GeForce RTX 5050 9 GB with three 3 GB GDDR7 chips has also been delayed for a similar reason.
It’s still unclear how Nvidia plans to resolve the issue. If VideoCardz’s information is accurate and partners have already received GPUs for the new models, the company is unlikely to delay the RTX 50 Super launch for too long.
