Nintendo Stops Adding New Content To Mario Kart Tour Mobile
Nintendo and DeNA have announced that they will soon stop creating new content for the Mario Kart Tour mobile game. The game was released only four years ago.
A joint statement from the companies revealed that the developers do not plan to add “any new tracks, drivers or karts” after the event, which starts on October 4. All future seasons in the mobile game will consist of previous content.
Mario Kart Tour launched in September 2019 on iOS and Android mobile devices. Thus, support for the game lasted exactly four years.
Of the eight major mobile games Nintendo has released to date, Mario Kart Tour will be the fifth to end support.
Mario Kart Tour recently overtook Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp to become Nintendo’s second-highest-grossing mobile game. The project has brought in about $243 million since its launch with 230 million downloads, and its monthly revenue is about $2 million.
