Facebook Will Soon Let You Create Multiple Profiles

Facebook is thinking about new ways to engage users with the platform. This time, the social network owned by Mark Zuckerberg has announced that it will soon allow users to have multiple profiles associated with the same account.

In a press statement Facebook said the new feature will allow people to have different profiles dedicated to different groups of people. For example, the same person could have a profile for personal friends, another for people at work, and another for family. The company says it will be very easy to create profiles and switch between them.

In particular, users will be able to create up to five different profiles under the same account.  Additional profiles do not need to include a person’s real name if it does not contain numbers or special characters. However, the user’s main profile must still show the person’s real name.

This is a big step up from Facebook’s current policy that it is against the platform’s standards to create more than one personal social media profile.

Facebook claims that the new multiple profile option can also be useful for people to organize their interests, since you can have a specific profile to follow topics in a topic you like. Of course, additional profiles will also be subject to Facebook’s rules, and breaking them will result in account-wide penalties.
