ESA Publishes Frightening Sounds Of Fhe Earth’s Magnetic Field
Scientists at the Technical University of Denmark have converted the magnetic signals from the Swarm satellites into audio signals. This made it possible to find out what the Earth’s magnetic field sounds like – and this is quite intimidating for what is supposed to protect us.
Launched in 2013, three Swarm ESA satellites measure the magnetic signals that come from the Earth. The received data was converted into sound. The audio track is planned to be played through loudspeakers in one of the squares in Copenhagen from 24 to 30 October 2022.
“It may sound nightmarish and terrifying, but this is exactly what the magnetic field of our planet sounds like, on which our life depends. We got access to a sound system consisting of more than 30 loudspeakers dug into the ground. We tuned them so that each speaker represented a different place on Earth and showed how our magnetic field has fluctuated over the past 100,000 years,” the scientists noted.
According to scientists, the purpose of this event is to remind people of the importance of the Earth’s magnetic field, on which the existence of life on Earth depends.
