Boston Dynamics Sues Competitor For Plagiarism Spot Robot Dog
Robotics company Boston Dynamics is suing competitor Ghost Robotics for allegedly infringing seven patents related to its four-legged Spot robot. It is reported by Engadget.
Boston Dynamics accuses Ghost Robotics of adopting key Spot technologies, including self-correcting and stair-climbing systems, the Spirit 40 and Vision 60 robots.
The plaintiff alleges that in July 2020, 5 months after the release of Spirit 40, a letter was sent to a competitor asking them to examine patents related to Spot robots. But there was no answer. Subsequently, Boston Dynamics also approached Ghost Robotics to look into patents and stop selling robots with borrowed technology, but in vain.
As a result, the manufacturer of “robodog” filed a lawsuit against a competitor. Commenting on the lawsuit, Boston Dynamics said it welcomes competition but will not tolerate plagiarism in relation to its developments.
