Asgard Introduces DDR5 CUDIMM
The secret to Thor DDR5’s high performance is that these are CUDIMM (Clocked Unbuffered Dual In-Line Memory Module) modules. Unlike regular DIMMs, the latest CUDIMMs feature their own clock generator, which regenerates the clock signal, increasing stability at high frequencies, which allows the memory modules to reach higher frequencies. “The clock generator on Thor DDR5 memory modules eliminates bottlenecks by improving signal transfer between the processor and DRAM,” the company says. This is what makes Thor DDR5 the fastest DDR5 RAM kit available today.
The demo showed that the Asgard Thor memory kit operates at 4800 MT/s, which, given the Intel processors running in 2:1 mode, corresponds to an effective speed of 9600 MT/s. In the CPU-z utility window, you can see all the necessary information about the Asgard Thor memory, including the DRAM manufacturer (SK hynix) and the CAS Latency value of CL44.
Intel plans to support even higher memory speeds in the future, and Asgard said it will soon release modules with 10,000 MT/s speeds and exceed that threshold.
The RAM modules will be available in two color options: Polar Night Black and Lightning Silver.
