Apple Approves App For Epic Games In Europe
Apple said Friday it has approved Epic Games’ online game store app for iPhone and iPad in Europe, amid a legal case between the companies that has been ongoing since 2020.
Apple announced Friday that it has approved the Epic Games game store app for European iOS users. This was preceded by a new round of struggle between the companies, when Epic Games accused Apple of deliberately opposing the launch of their game store on iPhone and iPad. At the same time, Apple clarified that the current dispute concerns the Epic Sweden AB Marketplace application and has nothing to do with the Fortnite game, which has already received permission to return to the App Store.
Epic and Apple have been locked in a legal battle since 2020, when the gaming company said Apple’s practice of charging up to 30% in-app fees on its iPhone operating system (iOS) devices violated U.S. antitrust laws.
