Meta Presents The Photorealistic Notorious B.I.G. In VR For A Surreal Metaverse Concert Next Month
Meta announced a VR concert. Together with the virtual Biggie, viewers will be transported to the atmosphere of Brooklyn in the 90s in order to fully taste the spirit of that time. The event is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the rapper.
The upcoming concert will take place at Meta Horizon Worlds, Meta’s social VR platform designed to compete with rivals like AltspaceVR and VRChat. The platform has hosted live events in the past, but this latest concert will be the biggest ever.
Premiere of The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s the Limit: A VR Concert Experience will take place on December 16 at Meta Horizon Worlds, and will feature a “hyper-realistic” avatar of the late rapper performing some of his most famous songs in an immersive environment created specifically for the show. Longtime collaborator Sean “Diddy” Combs will perform on the show with Biggie’s avatar alongside other rappers, but details on how they’ll combine real and digital artists are yet to be revealed. Users wishing to watch the surreal event will be able to watch the performance on Meta Quest headsets, and registrations can be made at Oculus.com.
