WWDC 2023: What To Expect From iOS 17
After the Google and Microsoft developer conferences, it is Apple’s turn. On June 5, the iPhone maker will host the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023. The 5-day event will heavily focus on third-party app developers for the Apple ecosystem, and will also include a keynote on the opening day, where some important announcements are expected. These likely include the release of iOS 17.
Currently known features of iOS 17:
- Redesigned Control Center. How exactly Apple can change this section of iOS, the sources do not specify. Some believe that the Cupertinians will redesign the look and position of the buttons, change the look of the sliders, and also add some additional customization settings.
- Interactive widgets. Sources say that Apple is already testing enough new widgets for iOS, which have active buttons, sliders, indicators and other similar elements. Thanks to this innovation, users will be able to interact with programs without having to open the application.
- New versions of standard applications. In almost every new major iOS update, Apple improves or changes some of the default apps. This year, Cupertinos may be making some changes to Apple Music, Mail, Reminders, Files, Wallet, Home, and Latitude. Insiders do not expect any global innovations. Most likely, everything will be limited to minor changes in the interface.
- New application Diary. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in iOS 17, Cupertino will add an application in which users can enter information about how their day went, and then view statistics over time.
- A new mode with larger interface elements and various features for people with disabilities. Apple spoke in detail about these innovations in mid-May.
- The ability to download applications bypassing the App Store. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman said that in iOS 17, Cupertino will lift the ban on downloading applications from third-party sources. The company will take such a step under the pressure of new rules that have come into force in the EU. True, Gurman believes that Apple will remove restrictions only in Europe. This will not be possible in other regions.
- Special mode for the lock screen. It will activate when the iPhone is held horizontally. Various useful information will be displayed on the screen. For example, reminders of upcoming meetings, weather, etc.
