UFC World Appears In Meta’s Horizon Worlds
Meta has announced that they are working with the UFC to create a special space in the Horizon Worlds meta universe.
According to the company’s blog, in this way Horizon Worlds will be able to watch broadcasts of fights in 4K format with a viewing angle of 180 degrees, chat with other players about the UFC, and also see a virtual reproduction of the Octagon.
UFC Fight Pass subscribers will have the opportunity not only to watch the fights, but also to discuss them with other Horizon Worlds users and even try out a virtual version of the octagon, compete in single and multiplayer games, unlock in-game rewards and enter the UFC Hall of Fame. This initiative is another attempt by Meta to lure new users to Horizon Worlds. The company has recently added several fun activities designed to generate interest, including mini-games and next-gen multiplayer action Rumble World with improved graphics and more challenging gameplay.
Meta noted that they chose to partner with the UFC because of the “engagement and fervor of this audience”; in addition, fans of martial arts like not only duels, but also their discussion with other viewers. “We successfully tested this technology in several MMA tournaments last year, and now we are taking it further. We are just starting to explore how we can use this technology to grow the sport and reach more fans,” said UFC Chief Content Officer Craig Borsari.
