Uber Launches Autonomous Food Delivery In California And Texas In Partnership With Nuro
Uber Eats food delivery will be carried out by Nuro R2 miniature unmanned vehicles. At first, they will be launched in several American cities.
Uber has had incredible success with its Uber Eats brand. They hope to continue to be a pioneer in this field by introducing self-driving food delivery to Mountain View, California and Houston, Texas this fall. The 10-year partnership with Nuro will also help the self-driving company gain access to more areas in the US.
Currently, Nuro is one of a select few companies that are allowed fully autonomous driving in several states (California, Texas, and Arizona). Their latest partnership with Uber Eats is one of many. The company has already partnered with FedEx, 7-Eleven, Kroger, Chipotle, Dominos, and even Walmart to expand their line of electric grocery delivery vehicles.
Commenting on another successful partnership with such a recognizable brand, Cosimo Leipold, Head of Partnerships at Nuro, says: “Our partnership with Uber highlights Nuro’s experience of partnering with the world’s leading brands to make autonomous delivery seamless.”
