“Twitter”: obligations under the deal with Musk were not violated
Earlier, Elon Musk refused to buy a social network, citing an alleged violation of the conditions preceding the deal.
On Monday, Twitter accused Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, of “deliberately” violating an agreement to buy the company days after the head of Tesla Inc decided to back out of a $44 billion deal.
In a letter sent to Musk on Sunday and filed with regulators on Monday, Twitter said it was not in breach of its obligations under the deal, which Musk mentioned on Friday, in seeking to pull out of the social media purchase.
The company plans to sue Musk to force him to complete the deal. Elon Musk ridiculed the threat on Monday. Twitter plans to file a lawsuit earlier this week in Delaware, people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Twitter also said in the letter that the agreement remains in place, adding that steps will be taken to finalize the deal.
