The Release Of “Homeworld 3” Was Postponed To 2024

The long-awaited sequel to Homeworld 2, a sci-fi real-time strategy video game released in 2003, was supposed to be released in 2022, but the release has been pushed back to the first half of 2023. Developers Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing have now announced that they are pushing the Homeworld 3 release date to February 2024.

The creators want to fully realize their vision, so more time is needed to refine and polish the game. Fan reaction on Twitter has been positive, with most supporting the company for being willing to put in the extra time.

The company also posted an extended version of the announcement on the Gearbox website, where it explained that Blackbird’s move to a four-day work week in 2022 was not the reason for the release date being pushed back. Fans were promised to share the biggest update on the progress of Homeworld 3 later this summer.

Our primary goal is to create a Homeworld that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of the series’ incredible legacy. Homeworld 3 looks exactly like this, but in order to fully realize this vision, we need more time to finalize and polish the game.

We deeply appreciate your passion and dedication to this game, and we are working hard to bring Homeworld 3 to you as soon as possible.”
