Spotify Tests AI Playlists
The team behind the music streaming service Spotify has introduced a new feature for users of the paid Spotify Premium subscription. The AI playlists service will allow you to create playlists based on a text query using neural networks.
In addition to standard queries based on genre or time period, suggestions can be about different things, such as places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, or emojis. You can, for example, ask to create a playlist of “songs to serenade my cat” or “beats to fight the zombie apocalypse” or “a playlist that makes me feel like the main character.” However, the company said the best playlist results are when the request contains a combination of genres, sentiments, artists and time period.
The feature is currently available to users in Australia and the UK. One hopes that its reach will soon expand.
