SEGA Isn’t Interested In Merging With Other Gaming Companies
Sega said it “currently” has no plans to sell to anyone. It intends to remain independent, but she values her relationship with Microsoft very much.
Publications about Microsoft’s great interest in buying Sega were commented by the chief operating officer of the Japanese company, Shuji Utsumi.
“We are very close to Microsoft and have a great relationship with its management team. Microsoft especially appreciates us. Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond of Xbox are really serious about the values that are important to all video game fans.”
Asked directly if Sega was open to negotiating a sale, Utsumi replied “No, not now.” At the same time, he declined to say whether Microsoft made direct proposals to the company’s management.
In addition to Sega, Microsoft also considered acquiring Square Enix and its Western studios.
