Samsung Display announced the development of a new QuantumBlack film for QD-OLED monitors, featuring low reflectivity and high wear resistance.
This technology reduces light reflection by 20% compared to the company’s previous solutions. This is achieved through a special coating that minimizes the impact of ambient light on image perception. Reduced reflections allow users to see more accurate black levels on the screen, which is especially important when working in brightly lit rooms.
In addition to improved optical performance, the film boasts increased mechanical strength. The coating’s hardness has been increased from 2H to 3H on the standard measurement scale. This means the panel’s surface is more resistant to scratches during transportation, installation, and everyday use. The coating can withstand damage from fingernails and other objects during routine screen cleaning.

Samsung Display announced that QuantumBlack technology will soon appear in monitors from its partners. Specifically, Asus has released Black Shield, Gigabyte Obsidian Shield, and MSI Dark Armor models that support the new technology.
