Qualcomm Unveils 8-Core Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 Processor
Qualcomm’s new processor coming to the Snapdragon X family could further improve competitiveness, provided these laptops are priced accordingly.
People can already find references to the X1P-42-100 model. Laptops equipped with this processor were unveiled at Computex, and retailers have been putting these systems up for sale for weeks. However, Qualcomm has not confirmed this yet.
According to the source, the eight-core Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 has a maximum frequency of 3.4 GHz (for one core). When all cores are running, the processor frequency is 3.2 GHz, which is 200 MHz lower than the maximum frequency in multi-threaded mode of the closest 10-core Snapdragon X Plus X1P-64-100 model.
The Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 also includes 30 MB of cache memory, an AI engine (NPU) with a performance of 45 TOPS (trillion operations per second) and integrated Adreno graphics with a performance of 1.7 Tflops, which is half that of the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus X1P-64-100.
Given what we know about the Snapdragon X’s gaming performance, the new model will almost certainly be completely underpowered for gaming, but the processor is designed for everyday tasks that don’t require graphics records.
