EHang Srarts Selling Its Unmanned Air Taxis On Taobao

Chinese drone manufacturer EHang Holidings has started selling its EH216-S flying taxi model on Taobao. In October, EHang received a safety certificate from the China Aviation Administration.

The cost of one such flying taxi is 2.39 million yuan ($332,060). Equipped with 16 propellers and capable of carrying 2 passengers at speeds of up to 130 km/h for a maximum distance of 30 kilometers, this model is the first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to receive CAAC certification.

EHang shares on the NASDAQ stock exchange have already increased by 80% over the past year. However, they are still well below the high they reached in December 2020, before a report from investment analysts sent their value plummeting.

Chinese media write that users can leave an order – the air taxi will be sent within 30 days.

Such developments open up new prospects for the development of the tourism business, because EHang is considering the possibility of cooperation not only as a supplier of products, but also as an operator of these aircraft.
