New 6G Device Transfers Data At 100 Gbps – 20 Times Faster Than 5G
Testing of the sixth generation of the mobile communication standard has reached the next level. A consortium of Japanese companies has developed and tested a wireless device for 6G networks, capable of transmitting data at a speed of 100 Gbps over a high-frequency range over a record distance of over 100 meters. This is 20 times faster than the best 5G performance: you can send five HD movies in a second.
Test results conducted by Japanese companies indicate that the 6G wireless device transmits data at 100 Gbps indoors using the 100 GHz band and outdoors using the 300 GHz band. The device was tested at an altitude of 100 meters.
The main difference between 5G and 6G is the different frequency ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum used by devices of different standards. Operating in higher ranges usually means much higher speeds. According to 6GWorld, 5G networks typically transmit data in the sub-6GHz band, but it can expand to 40GHz.
It is assumed that the transition from 5G to 6G will mean the emergence of new technologies and the entry to a new level of those that have already appeared, but have not yet conquered the consumer: virtual and mixed reality, smart homes and factories, holographic communication devices.
