Disney World Will Put Your Holographic Face On A Tron Action Figure For $90

Disney’s new Tron Identity program promises to create custom figurines in about 16 minutes, eliminating 3D printing entirely.

The idea is that you scan your face, record six lines of dialogue, then manually customize your character’s appearance with different helmets, bodies, and team colors, and you have a character that really feels like “you”.

In fact, there is no face sculpting at all in the new Tron figurine collection. The secret to their quick customization is hidden inside the sleek helmet each figure wears. Behind the transparent visor is an LCD screen that displays digitally captured images of faces with different expressions, and when played back sequentially, the figure can appear as if it is speaking.

Disney’s press release states that the set-up process will take approximately 20 minutes and the figure will be ready to collect in another 60 minutes.  So it’s kind of a compromise, but at least you get a pretty cool memento of the day. Its box is even designed to look like a small Tron arcade cabinet.
