Meta Is Working On An Twitter Alternative
Meta will create a new social network. It will be a decentralized analogue of Twitter, but Meta did not give other clarifications. The new project will be supervised by the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, Platformer found out.
The working title of the project is P92, it is still under development, MoneyControl found out. The new app can be accessed using an Instagram account. The social network will support the ActivityPub protocol, which is used for Mastodon, another decentralized application that is called a competitor to Twitter.
Meta’s previous experiments with creating a service using popular technologies ended up going nowhere. The company has dropped anonymous teen app tbh, celebrity chat app Super, couples app Tuned, student social network Campus, speed video dating service Sparked, and the TikTok clone Lasso.
