Meet TCL’s 2023 S And Q Class TVs

TCL shuffles all of its TVs to fit one of two brands: S Class and Q Class. As with the Xbox, the S class is more entry-level, while the Q class is for advanced users, and that’s where you’ll find the biggest difference from previous models.

The S-Class S2 is the simplest of the bunch, and it’s a bit like a relic, topping out at 720p and 32 inches. The S3 takes you up to 1080p with some light HDR capabilities (HDR 10 and HLG) and a max size of 43 inches.

The S4 is the most advanced of the budget lineup and provides full 4K imaging, Dolby Vision, MEMC frame insertion. There is also support for virtual surround sound, including Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X, and the maximum size goes up to 85 inches. Every S-Class TV uses an LED panel but comes with some kind of Smart TV software (Roku on S2 and Roku or Google TV of your choice on S3 and S4).

In the Q class, you will get more advanced display technologies, including QLED (quantum dots) and mini LEDs. It also debuts TCL’s “gaming accelerator” software, in which the software sacrifices resolution in favor of double the refresh rate, allowing 4K panels to play games at 1440p more smoothly.

The new TCL Q6 QLED series includes high-brightness LED backlighting for a brighter picture for enhanced movie and TV viewing, and 240 motion speed with MEMC frame insertion, combining multiple motion enhancement technologies for exceptional motion clarity. The Q6 also includes the new Game Accelerator 120 feature, delivering up to 120 VRR Gaming for a more responsive, lag-free gaming experience, and Automatic Gaming Mode (ALLM) with AMD FreeSync to automatically enable Gaming Mode with the lowest possible input lag. HDR PRO+ allows Q6 owners to enjoy enhanced contrast, accurate colors and fine detail using all of the most advanced HDR formats (Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG), while DTS Virtual:X provides advanced audio processing for everyday content, offering immersive virtualized 3D audio, all just from the TV speakers.

The TCL Q7 is a true premium TV, featuring High Brightness PRO LED Backlight with up to 1000 nits peak brightness for vivid images with dazzling glare for a realistic cinematic experience, and Full Array PRO Local Dimming for superior contrast ratios up to 200  + local dimming zones that dynamically adapt to the content on the screen for deep blacks without blurring. The Q7 also features a built-in 120Hz panel refresh rate, ideal for fast-paced movies, fast-paced video games, and sports broadcasts with incredibly smooth viewing. The Q7’s Motion Rate 480 with MEMC frame insertion delivers best-in-class motion clarity, while TCL’s exciting new Game Accelerator 240 feature lets you play blazing fast at up to 240 VRR Gaming. Along with Automatic Gaming Mode (ALLM) with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, this model will be a game changer for any serious gamer.
