“Elden Ring” Has Sold Over 20.5 Million Copies
Elden Ring is a role-playing game from the Japanese studio FromSoftware, the creators of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
The events of the game take place in a world called Middle Earth. The protagonist, Tarnished, must collect the shards of Elden’s Ring to become the sole ruler. To do this, you need to defeat six demigods.
Bandai Namco and FromSoftware shared information about Elden Ring sales. In a recent financial report, the publisher revealed that the title has sold 20.5 million copies worldwide. According to these data, you can see a gradual decline in the interest of new gamers in the action role-playing game from Miyazaki.
Elden Ring was released on February 25, 2022. The game sold 12 million copies in its first two weeks. In June, this figure rose to 16.6 million copies (+4.6 million in three months). In February 2023, the publisher reported 20 million copies (+3.4 million in 8 months).
The report indicated that Bandai Namco expects “elden ring sales to decline” from last year, in which the game “made a particularly large contribution” to the company’s revenue.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. Right now, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is in development, but there are few details about it yet.
