MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Introduced
MediaTek introduced a competitor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – the flagship single-chip platform Dimensity 9300. The manufacturer promises an average 40% increase in power compared to last year’s Dimensity 9200.
The Dimensity 9300 contains extremely high-performance or so-called large cores: one of the most powerful Cortex-X4 cores with a frequency of 3.25 GHz, three of the same Cortex-X4 cores, but with a frequency of 2.85 GHz, as well as four productive, no less power hungry Cortex-A720 cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz. The chip has 8 MB of L3 cache, 10 MB of system-wide cache, which is 29% more than its predecessor, and supports LPDDR5 RAM at speeds of up to 9600 MT/s.
The processor also includes a 12-core Immortalis-G720 graphics unit, which claims a 46% increase in ray tracing performance compared to previous generation chips and support for variable refresh rate (VRR) for screens. The graphics power consumption of the Dimensity 9300 processor at the same level of performance is 40% lower than its predecessor.
The Dimensity 9300 also features the AI engine APU 790, which delivers double the AI performance of integer and floating point operations while reducing power consumption by 45%. According to the company, by adapting the Transformer model, the processing speed of the 790 APU is 8 times faster than the previous generation of AI engine.
It is known that Dimensity 9300 will become the “heart” of the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro smartphones. The result of testing one of the models in Geekbench 6 has already appeared on the network: in multi-core mode, the chip scores 7973 points. The overclocked version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has 6600–6800 points.
