iOS 18 To Record And Transcribe Phone Conversations Into Text
The network continues to discuss the new features that appeared with the release of iOS 18 for iPhone. Let us remind you that the OS was presented on June 10 at the WWDC 2024 conference. An important innovation affected the Phone application – iPhones that have been updated to iOS 18 will be able to record calls and translate them into text.
The image released by the company shows the new recording option in the Phone app, which displays the audio waveform and recording duration. The conversation is then transcribed in the Notes app, where a summary can also be generated using Apple Intelligence’s new AI system. The user will also be able to record and transcribe audio in the Notes application.
As stated on Apple’s iOS 18 preview page, audio transcription will only be available in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Chinese and Portuguese.
The saved call recording will be stored in the Notes app. There you can listen to or read it again. The Apple Intelligence neural network built into iOS 18 will translate audio into text and also compose a short retelling of the dialogue.
