Huge Electric SUV Cadillac Escalade IQ Will Debut On August 9
Cadillac is preparing for the premiere of the electric Escalade, which will receive the prefix IQ in the name. The day before, the automaker distributed a short teaser video and photo with a future novelty, and also revealed the official premiere date – August 9th. It will take place at a special event in New York.
Promo photos and videos show that the front of the promising novelty will be made in the same style as other Cadillac electric vehicles – Celestiq and Lyriq. The full-size SUV will have a glowing logo, broken-stripe headlights, thin lines outlining the grille cover and vertical DRLs on the sides.
GM will build the Escalade IQ at its Factory Zero assembly center in Detroit. The GMC Hummer EV SUV is currently being assembled at this EV-focused plant. GM has invested $2.2 billion to refurbish and retool the plant to “serve as a launching pad” for the automaker’s electric vehicle strategy.
GM’s EV strategy unfortunately no longer includes compact EVs as the company has abandoned the Bolt EV and even the relatively new Bolt EUV. The company is now focused on making electric vehicles bigger than Bolt and developing its Ultium electric vehicle platform.
