HTC Is Preparing To Introduce A Competitor To The Meta Quest

HTC is preparing to introduce a new AR/VR headset, which should compete with the famous $1.5 thousand Meta Quest Pro, and maybe even compete with Apple’s long-announced headset. It will be officially shown at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023

The head of the HTC product department, Shen Ye, said that the main goal when creating the device was the idea of developing a small and light gadget with a solid list of functions. The teaser, which appeared on Twitter, shows a headset in the form of glasses with front and side cameras, not too different from the enterprise-oriented Magic Leap 2.

The headset can run for about two hours on a battery and supports controllers with six degrees of freedom, as well as hand tracking. These multi-purpose glasses will be ideal for gaming, entertainment, exercise, productivity and corporate use. The HTC headset is able to transmit color video from the front camera to the screens to create a mixed reality effect. The manufacturer has additionally built in a depth sensor, by the way, the Meta headset does not have such a feature, which can provide enhanced tracking and mapping capabilities.
