Guerrilla Games is currently gearing up to expand the world of its popular adventure franchise, Horizon. Players will be able to enjoy new online adventures in a familiar universe, most recently seen in Horizon Forbidden West.
Guerrilla’s future plans for the Horizon franchise include several projects, according to a new employee the company shared on Twitter. The company said it has a new in-house team in Amsterdam developing a “separate online project in the Horizon universe” that will include a new cast of characters and a “unique stylized look”. The listing link to single player content likely refers to the Horizon Forbidden West DLC, which explores post-apocalyptic Hollywood in 2023.
Sony has high hopes for the Horizon franchise, planning software for the PlayStation 5 and related hardware. The company recently confirmed that the Burning Shores DLC will skip the PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West and is also preparing Horizon Call of the Mountain as a launch game for PlayStation VR2. Although Horizon Forbidden West didn’t end up winning any awards at The Game Awards, it was nominated in seven categories and enjoys a high profile that will likely continue into 2023 and beyond.
