eBay Acquired NFT Platform KnownOrigin 

American online commerce giant eBay has bought NFT platform KnownOrigin. However, neither the details nor the amount of the transaction were disclosed.

The details can only be judged from a series of tweets from the British company KnownOrigin:

“During the negotiations, the company impressed us with their willingness to master Web3, to dive into this technology. NFT is the future of the art industry. We will combine our technical innovation with the eBay brand and community. We hope to play an important role in the development of this industry.”

The KnownOrigin brand has been working in the NFT space since 2018, when the industry was in its infancy. They position themselves as a platform for rare and truly unique art tokens (as opposed to the mass market). The service takes care of the authentication and protects the creators’ copyrights.

In May of this year, eBay released its first NFT collection dedicated to the legendary hockey player Wayne Gretzky.
